İrem is a research associate II at Dewpoint Therapeutics. She has been always motivated by the idea of bringing hope to patients suffering from diseases with unmet medical needs. She is particularly interested in cancer research projects and therapeutics against drug resistance.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology & Genetics and her master’s degree in Biochemistry. During her studies, she conducted several research projects at inspiring institutes such as Cambridge University, MPI for Biology of Aging, and DZNE. In each project, she practiced optimization and troubleshooting on different approaches including cell culture assays, cell line generation, cyto/histochemical staining, tissue sectioning, LC-MS, and LCM.

The two most exciting projects that she was involved in were: the one conducted in Dr. Marc de la Roche’s lab focused on Lgr5 expression in intestinal organoid cultures, and her master thesis project which was conducted in Dr. Dan Ehninger’s lab focusing on a novel methodology for the isolation of senescent cells.
