Thomas leads Discovery Biology in Germany and orchestrates R&D at Dewpoint’s Dresden site. Most recently, he was a Group Leader in the Neuroscience Discovery organization at AbbVie in Germany.
Prior to joining Dewpoint, Thomas dedicated his career in academia to the study of proteostasis in neurodegenerative disease. As the founding Head of Research Group at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, his team contributed significant insights into the molecular processes governing the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. He transitioned into pharmaceutical research, at AbbVie, where he held multiple leadership roles in pre-clinical drug discovery involving small molecule and biologics projects. Thomas has key expertise in establishing innovative disease models and translational strategies and enjoys developing new therapeutic modalities for challenging drug discovery targets. He authored 28 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
Thomas is a biochemist by training, holds a Ph.D. in Structural Biology from the University of Leeds and has performed his postdoctoral work at the University of Cambridge. Outside of work Thomas enjoys spending his time outside with his family.
