Dewpoint Therapeutics is building a highly collaborative team to harness the power of biomolecular condensates. Together, we are leveraging a transformative shift in the understanding of cellular biology to discover and advance breakthrough therapeutics for the toughest diseases.

We are seeking a Genome Data Engineer to further this vision and be a part of a new cutting edge group to leverage human genetics, genomics, and computation to translate high throughput measurements in condensate biology to actionable knowledge about disease, patients, and therapeutics. This role will be part of the scientific computing team in R&D and provide scientists with up-to-date genome informatics and analytics tools and services. The Genome Data Engineer will leverage internal and external resources to architect, develop, deploy, and maintain products and services. The engineer will work closely with scientists and IT, and serve as the interface of genomics and computational and systems biology to define a vision and insure an innovative approach to solving challenging scientific problems and meeting business needs

 In this role you will…

  • Develop, test, and execute scientific software development projects against needs and requirements of data processing workflows and pipelines
  • QC data and manage internal and external platforms in areas of genomics and genetics
  • Handle full-stack development of applications that employ search, data management, and visualization for preclinical, clinica,l and data scientists
  • Operationalize development projects into production quality tools for use by scientists
  • Define and develop a strategy for systems and services that meet the needs of stakeholders and manage service across a continuum from “self-serve” to “dedicated support”
  • Anticipate and be up-to-date with new computing technologies such as AWS, Google Cloud Computing, open source, and vendor software
  • Work with outside vendors to design and implement solutions
  • Work closely with IT to maintain quality and scale of computer storage
  • Commit to a team culture of continuous improvement, responsiveness, agility, and technical excellence
  • Develop and establish software best-practices such as code-review, version control, and documentation
  • Develop and maintain documentation for software specifications, architectural design, test, and deployment processes
  • Become a valuable contributor to other initiatives as they arise in our fast paced, start up environment 

To do that you will need…

  • BA or MS/PhD (preferred) in computer sciences, information sciences, or a quantitative discipline such as computational biology, computational chemistry, engineering, or physics
  • 5+ years industry experience applying scientific technologies to solve computationally and data intensive problems in biotech and pharma
  • Familiarity with NGS data types (e.g. fastq, BAM, vcf) and analytical tools (e.g. Picard, STAR, variant callers)
  • Familiarity with modern scientific software development frameworks, tools, and environments
  • 3+ years of experience in the following: JavaScript, R or Python.
  • Experience creating and applying technologies to solve compute intensive and data intensive problems in the following: genome informatics, medical informatics, distributed and high performance computing, visualization   
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Experience working as a member of a team in a matrix environment   
  • Excellent knowledge of large scale biological data and methods of management, e.g. data aggregation, data-marting, relational databases, object stores, column stores, triple stores, graph stores, document stores, storage resource broker/SRB, iRODs   
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as SQL, MongoDB
  • Experience with Linux, high performance computing and storage (e.g. SGE, LSF, PBS, Hadoop, Opengrid, Spark), cloud computing (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), vendor platforms (e.g. DNANexus)
  • Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary and dynamic environment and experience in mentoring scientific teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, the shared language of our multicultural team
